I just thought I would give you a brief update on the things that have kept me busy on your behalf since taking on the presidency of our great club in mid November.
The Netball tryouts had large numbers again which has unfortunately meant some girls have missed out and while it may be disappointing for those who missed out, coaches and selectors commented on the quality of players coming through. Kangaroo Flat has been very successful in the Netball ranks and the amount of players wanting to come here is a testament to the Netball Committee and Coaches. Now for the next exciting chapter with Jayden taking on the Head Coaches Role, bringing a wealth of knowledge and being highly respected by all who know him,
Shawn & Corey have been working feverishly since the end of the last season looking for improvements within the current list as well as talking with potential new players (hopefully have some news on big signings in the coming weeks) Preseason Training Restarts 17th Jan.
We welcome to the Club Julian Renshaw as the Reserves Coach, Julians assistant will be Club Legend Steve Shatwell. A big thanks to Ross Smith and Steve Ritchie on their efforts last year in what was a difficult time often trying to find players on game day, Ross is having a year off coaching and Steve will be helping out Shawn & Corey.
Welcome back to Coaching Jason Stevens who is taking on the Under 18’s coaching job as well as Junior Development officer for the Club. We have good numbers and some fantastic talent coming through so keep a close eye on them this year. The Junior Football committee will start ramping up soon and after last years success, we can’t wait!
After a lot of enquiries from players, we have indicated to the League that Kangaroo Flat would like to run a Senior Women's team in 2018! This means we will need your help! Know anyone who wants to play, coach, manage etc get incontact with the Club ASAP so we can get it up and running. Get in early and be part of history as we become one of the first BFNL Clubs to form a team.
The Committee has been busily getting everything finalised for 2017 and planning for 2018 with the main focus being on the Clubs Finances and procedures, with the demands of AFL, Local, State and Federal Government laws and legislation putting more demands on Football Netball Clubs, we now more than ever need to look a governance and succession planning to ensure the Club can continue to operate successfully.
The support offered to me by current and past Players, Coaches, Supporters and Committee has been fantastic and I look forward to learning more about everyone and their aspirations for the Club. Please feel free to email me with any ideas, information or concerns, I’m always interested in others views.
